Spiritual Conceit

Spiritual Conceit

To imagine that everything is OK…

To make-believe as if it was all fine…

To believe that everything will be OK…

To fall into the lie that there is a “divine plan”…

…These are all pathological!

Thinking these thoughts is like a heroin addict claiming to be happy because they feel good when they are shooting up.

It is much more useful to take a look at the world, so that we can comprehend reality.

Life is messy. This dimension of existence is dark. There is death. There is decay. There is destruction. And there is evil.

Facing this is necessary. In fact, the deepening of our discontent is what fuels our exertion into new breakthroughs, not pretending that “karma will work itself out” or falling for the lie that “God has a plan”.

In the same vein of thinking, creating a balanced, quiet, happy life – walking through life in a meek daze – is not the way to apotheosis either. It is merely a recipe for a weak life.

Our ancestors turned their back on the world and took the Nivriti Marga. Yes, part of this was in recognition that something higher and much better was possible for them. But part of this was the recognition that this world is a sham, it’s people are liars, it’s systems are corrupt, and even the bodies we inhabit are just “food for jackals”!

Do not get suckered into spiritual conceit, and hide behind that fake mask of “life is great” because all the cool kids that look spiritual and talk spiritual are doing it. It is yet another layer of social conditioning, and yet another contamination of the wisdom streams: “think whatever thoughts you want, but think quietly and don’t mess with the system or the dominance hierarchy”.

Maya is deep. It is much deeper than you think. If you think still and believe for a moment that you understand, you are lost…

As an addendum, I must add: Prometheus gave us the spark to fix this. The Tower of Babel can be built. The fact that the Old Testament is condemning it implies that it must be built!

It is much better to fuel our discontent so that we can have the fortitude to cut stones and lay bricks. Let us make science our cornerstone! And let us build our tower to the stars! And never again return to the life of peasantry and death.

Simple life is not a virtue.
