A Radical Path for Transcendence
Those beings that are mindless, as well as those beings that have little to no conscious control over their minds…
They are playthings of nature.
They are a series of action-reaction chains.
They are, essentially, just like property. (Yes, that word has horrid implications)
Unfortunately, many animals, including a considerable number of humans, fall into this category: mindless.
But this is not a transcendental mindlessness such as the kind of “mindlessness” that yogis advocate. This is simply a mindlessness of ineptitude.
It’s a mindlessness of walking through life in a walking daze.
It is a mindlessness of a lack of computing power!
If I were a feeling man, I would feel truly sad for such mindless beings.
And I would feel particularly bad, because while sentient, such mindless beings are at the *effect* end of every happening; not a pleasant way to exist.
Fortunately, not all beings are such mindless creatures. We also have those who have developed minds.
And this is no easy task! After all, a mind, and the personality associated with it, takes some energy to create.
It also comes with benefits…
A mind can conceptualize. It can anthropomorphize. It can solve problems .
It can even learn!
In fact, it can learn to such an extent that it can create models and make sense of it’s environment, and then generalize that sense into the golden brilliance of this AMAZING thing which we know as knowledge!
Which can migrate from generation to generation, and even fly over the chasm of death!
This is why you must beware of this thing called knowledge…
For instance:
A man may see lightning and thunder, and think that there is an angry man in the sky. That becomes “knowledge”.
That’s not it though… That knowledge can move from one man to another.
And a third man coming into contact with such knowledge, might come up with a brilliant idea: “Why don’t we start appeasing that angry sky-man with bribes and offerings?”
So… That new “knowledge” of appeasing the angry man in the sky takes root. And if enough people catch this new “knowledge”, an elaborate tradition of worship and religion may emerge.
On and on it goes…
Sure, it evolves. But it’s not enough.
For instance: The stone age mind would not venture on any travel without appeasing the imaginary angry man in the sky – a waste of time and energy.
While the modern mind would not think twice about any imaginary man behind any natural phenomena – perhaps an equally grave misconception.
Yet.. About both forms of knowledge one fact is for certain: they are both results of their environment.
Once you see and understand this, you end up having to face a horrifying realization:
Just like mindless beings, which are mere objects… Those beings with minds are ALSO objects – because both exist in, are limited by, and are defined by their environment.
In other words having a mind does not entitle a being a status beyond that of “objecthood”, for the mind itself is merely an object of its environment!
Yet… The mind can also be used a stepping stone out of this objecthood.
Because using the mind, it is possible to go *BEYOND* the mind, and thus, beyond the environment in which a being is defined by.
And no, I’m not talking about some samadhi. Or some sort of faith based bullshit about how god is beyond your mind or anything like that.
None of that.
I’m taking about facts.
I’m talking about the ability to see through the conditions of your own mind.
I’m talking about the ability to perceive, recognize and comprehend that your mind is an object.
Once you see your mind for what it is: a pattern matching apparatus that uses your memories and sensory experiences to predict the world… An apparatus that transmits and receives knowledge and is constructed through knowledge…
Once you see that… You also start to see that it’s accuracy, as well as it’s usefulness, is dependent on the knowledge it has been fed.
In other words, you think what you think, because of knowledge – that hidden transcendental sphere of unspeakable splendor that sits between wisdom and understanding.
Commanding that is akin to commanding everything.
And transcending it… Well that means, you can be truly free and even start to think, anything you WILL to think!
THAT is going beyond the mind.
And once you learn how to go beyond the mind – Insight, Intuition and Imagination soars free.
That is sublime, transcendental and powerful.
Remember this: Those without minds are ruled by those who have minds.
And those who have minds are ruled by those who can go beyond their minds.
