Tragic Thievery
Ever since human beings have been dwelling the earth, they have been robbed of their potential.
While this thievery was naturally occurring, not instigated by some evil entity or elite cabal; it did benefit such things greatly…
What I am talking about is the fact that people are robbed of their imagination through the consensus paradigms they subscribe to. Leaving the magickal implications aside, simply put, if you cannot imagine the possibility of something, you lose the ability to seek after it. And considering the fact that most valuable things in the Cosmos require some effort and seeking after, this lack of imagination turns into a deep tragedy!
Here’s how this has been going on:
During the tribal days, the paradigm revolved around nature, survival and spirits. Man had a unique yet integrated place among all beings, and could not imagine himself at another spot. Man thought he knew himself and his place. As a result, the brutal life of natural struggle played on, with beings devouring each other for sustenance.
During the agricultural age, a feudal paradigm took hold. Man imagined a “righteous” hierarchies of gods, demons, spirits, and of course, sovereign kings and queens. Man again thought he knew himself and his place. And a life of toil, struggle and slavery manifested for the amusement of a random sample of humans who filled court rooms.
Later in the industrial age, a materialist paradigm lashed back and gained supremacy. Religion took a back seat, courts of kings became historic fancies, and demons got their own television shows. Man stopped thinking about his place, and learned to find himself through purchases. And under the guise of a populist feel good democracy, lives transmuted into the cogs of a giant machine that ran on gas and spit out cash.
Amidst all this tragic erosion of imagination, there has always been a “hidden” streams of mystics, wizards and magicians. They dared to step out of the consensus paradigm, and reaped the rewards of their “arrogance”. They saw themselves in the stars around tribal campfires and brought down the science of stars. They sealed deals with demons to reign over sovereigns, birthing democracy and secular wisdom. They renounced the system, walked the world naked, and even hacked the giant machine just to give mankind a glimpse of The Infinite Cosmos.
All human progress rides on the back of such people, who dare to imagine the impossible.
And now, peeking into the future – I see the children of social media who barely have a drop of sentience, on collision course with the imagination of a new breed of unstoppable wizards…
